Old World Pumpkin Bars

Old World Pumpkin Bars (The Gingered Whisk) The Best of Fall! Layered oatmeal crust, pumpkin pie and pecan pie all in one! YUM!

A dear friend introduced me to the recipe for these beautiful fall bars, and I couldn't be more pleased with them! Before now I have only had the traditional cream cheese frosting type pumpkin bars. And while those are pretty amazing by themselves, these bars really take it to the next level! Look at those gorgeous layers! Take these bars to your next holiday gathering or family meal, and you will impress everyone! The layers are quick and easy to prepare - just make the next layer while the previous one is baking, and you will be done before you know it!

These Old World Pumpkin Bars are the perfect fall dessert. A layered combination of oatmeal crust, pumpkin pie, and pecan pie, it doesn't get much better than this! Store these bars in the fridge to keep them in perfect snacking condition! Dollop on some fresh whipped cream (a total must-have) when you are ready to serve!

Old World Pumpkin Bars Recipe

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 50 minutes

Ingredients (16 servings)
    • 1 c. flour
    • 1/2 c. brown sugar
    • 1/2 c. quick oatmeal
    • 1/2 c. butter
    • 2 c. canned pumpkin
    • 2 eggs
    • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    • 1/4 tsp. cloves
    • 1 c. evaporated milk
    • 3/4 c. white sugar
    • 1/2 tsp. ginger
    • 1/2 c. pecans
    • 2 tbsp. butter
    • 1/2 c. brown sugar
    Mix the ingredients for the crust.
    Press into the bottom of a greased 9x13 pan.
    Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.
    Mix the filling.
    Pour over the hot crust.
    Bake at 15 additional minutes.
    Mix the ingredients for the topping.
    Sprinkle over the baked filling.
    Bake for an additional 15-20 minutes more.
    Cool before serving.
    Serve with Cool whip or whipped cream.

    1. when you say "canned milk" does that mean sweetened condensed milk or evaporated milk?
